Berliner Weisse Release

  • Tractor Brewing Company - All Locations 1800 4th Street Northwest Albuquerque, NM, 87102 United States (map)

Our flagship sour is back! We got you covered for ABQ Beer Week with our refreshing European style ale!

Style originated in 16th century Germany as a wheat beer that was bottled and then buried in warm ground to ferment again. This created a sour and acidic beer that could be mixed with fruit syrups and other styles of beer & became the most popular alcoholic beverage in the region by the 19th century. We have created this beer in the traditional method of allowing the wort to "sour" before fermentation, which is accomplished by adding un-crushed malt to the wort and allowing the naturally occurring lactobacillus on the un-crushed malt to sour the wort over a 3-day period. You will notice a light straw color body and a clean white head. It has a sour lemon flavor, slight fruitiness and puckering mouth feel.
